Caring for your fish

Handle your fish with care so as not to damage the fins or loosen scales.

Look at the fish and determine (show side).
Take a photo of the fish soon after catching the fish for accurate color.

Best to get it to a taxidermist as soon as you can.
If you cannot get the fish taken in right away:

Wrap the fish in a soaking wet cloth, place in a sealed plastic bag and lay it on a solid flat surface until frozen.

Do not put anything on top of the fish.

DO NOT:
Wrap the fish in newspaper, newspaper draws moisture out of the skin and the print may be absorbed into the skin and can be hard to cover over.
